HyperDriller Screw

Mar 22, 2019

Fastener designs have been used to improve specific characteristics of fasteners in different materials. Ultimately, the fastener needs to bind one material to another securely and efficiently. Screw-type fasteners generally include a threaded shank with a tip at one end thereof and a head at the other end. The head is adapted to be driven by a tool to rotate the fastener. Some heads are designed to be recessed in a fastened material, while others are designed to clamp against the material so that the head protrudes above the surface of the bound material. One critical characteristic of wood screw is the driving performance ; quick, labor-saving or split prevention seems to be the most general pursuing aim for a so called "unique wood screw".

Multiform Fasteners Co., Ltd. has expanded its range of each patent familiy to extensive applications. Whether it is the framing installation or cabinet assembling, both are wooden product applications requiring screws to meet special needs involving good handling and safety. Multiform Fasteners Co., Ltd. is going to introduce one of the strong patent family, HyperDriller, acquiring high quality standards of its wide dimension range and a variety of designs. HyperDriller wood screws are available in various head type depending on different specific usage, and they are certified with CE marking, in-line with EN 14592. Chipboard, Decking, Structural, Plastic, Concrete screws, as well as a variety of wood screws complete the full range of HyperDriller family.

What makes HyperDriller outperform other wood screws on the market is the special patented groove deployed over the screw body. The shank is integrally formed of several inward spiral grooves about the center axis where the cross sectional shape of groove could be seen approximately one rectangle with respect to the root. Besides, the depth of the groove should not be such that it significantly weakens the strength of screw, while it should be sufficiently deep so that the edge of the grooves act as cutting edges and it is capable of conveying the wood debris upwardly through the proceeding. Also the certain amount of spiral angle of the groove is designed properly to assist in conveying the debris.

When HyperDriller screws are driving into wooden objects, the wooden debris tends to be compressed inside the grooves presenting an exceptionally strong fastening quality of the screw in the workpiece. The inward grooves through the threads act as a tap, cutting clean threads in the wood rather than compressing and splitting or weakening the material. According to the present characteristic it has been proved that the screw can penetrate through workpiece while reducing the danger of splitting the wood, even near the ends of the material. Due to their distinctive design, HyperDriller screws can be directly inserted into the objects with no preliminarty drilling required. Moreover, the revolutionary shank geometry makes installation quick and easy with minimized risk of cracking.

The lower part of shank portion is made to contain multiple cutting recessed surfaces and an end cutter point making for easier centring and lower screw-in resistance. Instead of having a smooth surface, the recessed surface with several cutting teeth generates higher cutting stress that can break down the material and cut the substrate into relatively small pieces on the contact. By doing so, the debris from the cutting process becomes easily to pack inside the grooves that the whole insertion torque is further reduced for the fastening process. Furthermore, Multiform Fasteners Co., Ltd. brings up a new feature which is the hardening process to which the HyperDriller screws are submitted, enables an angle of bending of 45º as well as perserves a high torsional ratio.
